COMFAR III training

 One week training course on Financial Analysis of Biomass Investment Project Scenarios with Application of COMFAR software  concluded in Lao

Vientiane 13-17 March 2017: The United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) in collaboration with the Department of Industry and Handicraft (DoIH), Cleaner Production Centre Lao PDR, at the Ministry of Industry and Commerce (MoIC) held a one week training course on Financial Analysis of Biomass Investment Project Scenarios with Application of COMFAR software. This workshop was organized under the project “Reduction of Greenhouse Gas Emission in Industrial Sector through Pelletization Technology” funded by the Global Environment Facility (GEF), under the chairmanship of the Director General of the department of Industry and Handicraft Mr. Manohack Rasachack. The project aims to reduce GHG emissions in Lao PDR’s industries by promoting the production and usage of industrial grade solid biofuel for thermal energy generation.

The training was attended by more than 15 participants coming from different financial institutions reaching from large banks to micro-finance institution, as well as government representatives, and business associations.

The objective of the training was to build capacity on financial analysis of  renewable energy projects and project development through computer modeling, which makes the process of analyzing the financial feasibility more effective, easy, faster and more precise.

At the end of the training, the participants received a certificate COMFAR III (beginner).
